Therapy, at its best, is a journey toward self-fulfillment, personal growth, and enriched relationships. I believe that we all have the strength and inner resources to solve problems. My job is to help my clients remove the barriers that interfere with their innate drive to achieve their full potential. My clients enjoy my engaging yet laid back style, and the way in which I quickly and thoughtfully assess their situations so that they can begin work on making exciting and positive life changes.
I am a licensed clinical social worker with a PhD. in marriage and family therapy. I provide individual, couple, and family counseling for clients, ages 11 and up. I have fifteen plus years’ experience working with diverse populations in private practice, outpatient, residential, school, and non-profit treatment settings. I am a graduate of Denver University, Northcental University, and the University of Missouri.
My theoretical orientation includes Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), Christian Counseling (for those who are interested), Bowen family systems, and
Solution Focused Brief (SFBT) therapies. As a yoga and natural health enthusiast, I approach my clients from the holistic perspective of mind, body, and spirit. I believe that good mental health is related to balance in all three areas.
I am a certified facilitator for Prepare/Enrich (couples counseling), and a certified Anger Resolution Therapist. I am a professional public speaker (Toastmasters DTM and former area Governor) and I facilitate workshops for businesses, churches, and non-profit organizations on a variety of topics including communication, customer service, resiliency, and diversity. I am a published writer with works appearing in Chicken Soup for the Soul, Guideposts Magazine, Total Body Magazine, Nurturing Paws, Hurray God, and Kernels of Hope. My husband and I have two grown children and two fur babies.
I treat clients with a variety of issues including, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, couple conflict, infidelity, life transition, traumatic grief (including pet death), self-esteem, trauma and PTSD.
