Jayna Haney, MS

Jayna Haney began her work with single parents and stepfamilies in 2002, fueled by her own experiences trying to find help and support as a single parent, and later, in a stepfamily. In 2006, she founded The Bridge Across for Single Parents and Stepfamilies to provide coaching, education, and programs. She earned an MS in Counseling from University of Houston – Clear Lake, received her Master Stepfamily Coach certification from The Stepfamily Foundation, and recently earned her Professional Counseling License (LPC-Intern) and is supervised by Mary Lou Shackleton, MA, LPC-S, LMFT-S.

Single parents and stepfamilies deal with many unique challenges and changes, often happening at the same time. These transitions create strong feelings of loss, anger, sadness, regret, fear, and frustration because they involve the center of our heart and lives- our loved ones, our children, and our families. First married in 1986, a mom since 1993, divorced mom and single parent in 1998, and remarried mom and stepmom since 2001, Jayna knows and understands the many situations and struggles faced when moving from married parent to single parent to stepfamily.

Single parents and stepfamilies will receive compassion and understanding from Jayna. She encourages single parents and stepfamily couples to make small changes (which lead to big changes), provides them with a wealth of information and resources, helps them to discover out-of-the-box solutions for a variety of problems, and empowers her clients in the midst of family court issues or exes difficulties.

Jayna has authored and presented a number of programs for individuals and groups including Powerful Single Parent Wisdom, Exes and Answers, Crucial Keys for Working Together as Parent and Stepparent, and Holiday Planning for Single Parents and Stepfamilies (Increase the Joy and Decrease the Stress). Jayna and her husband, Mike, have four grown children (ages 19 to 22), and are enjoying the latest step on their family journey – the empty nest – with full hearts.
