Rama Gerig, MSW-Intern
Rama Gerig is a Clinical Social Work intern providing low cost psychotherapy services at The Lovett Center. Currently, she is in her final year of grad school at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. While completing her Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Psychology, at the University of St. Thomas, Rama founded Society’s Forgotten Children. This organization raises money and creates awareness of the emotional, behavioral, and economic burdens as related to children of incarcerated parents. She has previous experience working with women and teens at the Star of Hope homeless shelter in Houston. Most recently, as an intern with The Women’s Resource of Greater Houston, she conducts psychoeducational groups in Harris County Jail’s Reentry Program. These financial literacy sessions target women who are victims of sex trafficking, drug abuse, and/or pregnant while incarcerated. Prior to beginning school, Rama worked as a Patient Liaison in a Partial Hospitalization Program in the Houston area, where she was inspired to pursue her career in the mental health field.
