Sara Nowak, LMSW
Sara Nowak, LMSW received her Master’s degree from the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work. Sara is passionate about holding space for individuals to explore and discuss challenges in their lives. She takes great care in supporting clients on their journey to process and cope with their challenges and develop skills to accomplish their goals. Sara has helped clients of all ages find healing from anxiety disorders, mood disorders, life transitions, and grief and loss. She uses a variety of treatment methodologies, including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavior therapy techniques, and client-centered therapy.
Sara completed training as a Clinical Social Work Intern at The Lovett Center, where she provided reduced fee psychotherapy services. She also trained under three school social workers at a local KIPP campus, serving students from Pre-K through 12th grade. In 2012, Sara received her Bachelor’s Degree in sociology and psychology from Rice University and was heavily involved in service work and student affairs programming during her undergraduate years. After graduating from Rice, Sara worked at the university’s Community Involvement Center, advising student service leaders and providing support to students in processing and reflecting on their service experiences. Sara has also worked for and volunteered with NAMI Greater Houston, providing support and referrals to individuals and families dealing with complex mental health issues.
